Installed openSUSE 11.1 on my ASUS 1000HA

Installed openSUSE 11.1 on my ASUS eeePC 1000HA this weekend. I still ran into issues with the wireless, though. I ended up replacing the Atheros-based AzureWare AR5BXB63 wireless card with an Intel 4965AGN that I had laying around. It was a spoil from a laptop that my daughter sat on. Anyway, I replaced the card in hopes that my Linux wireless woes would be solved.

[](http://www.i ntellinuxwireless.org/) After installing openSUSE the wireless card did not work. There were errors showing up in the system log indicating “iflwifi-4965-2.ucode firmware file req failed: Reason -2”. A few Google searches later, I found the following site: http://intellinuxwireless.org/

I downloaded the package iwlwifi-4965-ucode-228.57.2.23.tgz , extracted the contents, and copied the file to /lib/firmware/ as directed in the README. After a reboot, and a check of dmesg, I was in business and have had very good and reliable wifi access on my new netbook under openSUSE 11.1.
