The start of a new project...

Well, today I was informed of the news. I will be embarking on a new project. I have been informed by my wife that I will be installing a wood floor. This wood floor will take the place of the bane of her existence, the carpet. Having pets and carpet really doesn’t go well with one another. Especially here in the Northwest. Folks moving here from the desert in the southwest do not have an appreciation for how long it can rain. The pets have the same misunderstanding, and it tends to mess with years of training. Anyway, I am excited for the challenge, but as things look right now, it appears a bit daunting. Anyway, here is a picture of flooring that has been chosen. ![](http ://www.blairkennedy.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId= 4845&g2_serialNumber=4) It is called antique oak. I will update with more images as the project progresses. Phase 1 will be to rearrange the furniture, remove the baseboards, and rip out the old carpet along with the pad. Phase 2 will involve securing the subfloor, possibly painting it with kills (depends upon pet damage), then laying down the padding/vaport barrier. Phase 3 is when we will start to actually lay down the flooring material and from the looks of things, it will also be a time when I reaquaint myself with my saws. Anyway, it looks to be an interesting project. I am actually looking forward to it.
