_place_holder;My wife and I were trying to print wedding invitations this afternoon, and discovered that our 1.5 year old HP DJ4160 had decided to stop feeding paper properly.  _place_holder;It is most likely a worn roller.  _place_holder;Anyway, we went out and bought a new printer.  _place_holder;After scanning the selection, we noticed that it is actually difficult to find a home printer without a scanner built in at the big box electronic stores.  _place_holder;
Anyway, we settled upon the Canon MP560.  _place_holder;It is a nice multifunction printer with 2 feed paths, a duplexer, scanner, and wifi.  _place_holder;Setting the printer up within Windows or Linux was a breeze.  _place_holder;My wife was using Windows for her invitation printing project, and she was up an running with the drivers on the included CD-ROM.  _place_holder;I tend to use Linux most of the time, so I had to turn to Google where I found a pointer to the Ubuntu Forums.  _place_holder;I followed the advice in the forum thread, and I am able to print directly to the printer over the LAN (wifi), and I am also able to scan from it using the Canon “scangearmp” software.  _place_holder;The printer and scanner drivers are available from the Canon Asia site located here (deb and rpm): _place_holder;

 _place_holder;One more thing for those Linux users, like me.  _place_holder;I have not been able to get Xsane to work.  _place_holder;I use the native application provided by Canon, ScanGear.  _place_holder;To launch it hit - and type in scangearmp.  _place_holder;That will launch the application.  _place_holder;You can also use GIMP and create a new image from the ScanGear application.
