Well, I made a call to the local police department this morning to try and settle a couple of questions that I had after my experience last night. I have come to find out that there was a targeted DUI task force looking to crack down on the revelers that may have been leaving Majerle’s Sports Grill. I think that nails down the reason why the car I was waiting for, that turned 180 degrees through a gap in the center median where there was no turn lane or U-turn permitted, was ignored and I was picked up.
Another bit of information that I discovered is that Arizona cities are much less provincial than those in other states, like Washington. Police officials from any city in the state of Arizona have jurisdiction across the state even in cities where they may not be entirely well-versed in local ordinances. Who knew, but that answers my other lingering question of why a Buckeye motorcycle officer was enforcing minor traffic offenses in the city of Avondale…He can.
