Hi, I’m Blair — a cloud architect based in Arizona. I have held AWS certifications across the Solutions Architect, Developer, and SysOps Administrator Associate tracks. My path here started over three decades ago as a systems and network administrator, working up through enterprise architecture roles in healthcare and insurance, and I currently serve as an Enterprise Architect helping advance architecture and AI for a large P&C insurer.
On the AI side, I’ve been supporting the push to bring GenAI development tooling into the engineering org at work — we are running proof-of-concepts with Claude Code and Kiro, and starting to evaluate PR-native tools like CodeRabbit and Rovo Dev.
This site has been running since 2005, in one form or another — it started on an old CMS, migrated through a couple of platforms over the years, and now runs on Hugo. Keeping the infrastructure behind it modern is itself an ongoing little project: infrastructure-as-code, an automated deploy pipeline, the works.
When I’m not tinkering with single-board computers, OS rebuilds, playing with cloud infrastructure or gaming, you’ll usually find me on the road — RVing when I can get away, always looking for a good excuse to unplug for a few days.
A few years back, I also designed and built a livestreaming setup for our parish — PTZ cameras, a multi-camera switcher, the works — to help keep the community connected through COVID. It’s still running today, and I’ve kept it maintained ever since.
At home, the house currently belongs to Paisley, a cavapoo who joined our family earlier this year after we said goodbye to Buddy and Fritz. (Yes, there’s a laptop sticker of her. No, I’m not sorry about it.)
I’m getting back into writing here more regularly — expect a mix of cloud and infrastructure deep-dives, the occasional detour into whatever I’m tinkering with at home, and general life updates along the way. Thanks for reading.
